Aloha and welcome to October on Maui!! A wonderful month to be in Paradise! Probably one of the biggest events happens this month – “Halloween in Lahaina.” This world famous Front Street event includes a haunted house for kids, costume contests, parade and great food. With Front Street closed to vehicle traffic it magically transforms itself into the “Mardi Gras” of the Pacific. It will be something you will not forget. Unbelievable costumes appearing from every direction most contemplated and worked on since last year’s event.  

The real estate market on Maui continues to transition towards a “buyers” market. Price reductions, increasing inventory levels, fewer pending & sold transactions and a ruffling of median prices will frame the real estate landscape for the next 10 to 15 months. Challenges and opportunities abound as Maui follows the current real estate trends of California, Nevada & Arizona (we typically run 6-8 months behind the West coast).  The duration and breadth of these upcoming opportunities will depend a lot on our National Capital needs, interest rates, job growth/economic power (both locally and nationally), upcoming elections and amount of new developer product under construction, in pipeline as market changes.
