In fact we are going to devote this months editors letter to highlight Octobers MANY activities and cultural events. Sept 24^th – Oct 24^th            Huc Luquiens’ Hawaii: Prints 1918 – 1950 (Maui)  Remarkable collection of 223 etchings, aquatints and lithographs which document the natural beauty of the islands before modern construction. – Maui Arts & Cultural Center

Sept 30^th – Oct 3^rd               Maui County Fair: The oldest & best fair in Hawaii. Rides games, food & exhibits – Orchidland is a huge floral display.  - Wailuku War Memorial in Kahului

Oct 8^th – Oct 17^th                 Aloha Festivals Maui: Maui celebrates Aloha Festivals with music, dance & Hawaiian cultural programs. Enjoy special events from Kaanapali to Kihei, including the Banyan Tree Ho’olaule’a and Kihei Community Parade. The 1999 theme is Hui Pu I ka Hula, Together in Song and Dance.

Oct 9^th – Oct 10^th                 Japanese Paste Paper: Japanese paste paper is a surface design technique originating in England over 100 years ago. This two-day workshop will cover all aspects of paper-paste techniques. – Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, Makawao

Oct 9^th                                    Maui Triathlon Ironteam & Individual Championship.

Oct 16^th – Oct 17^th               Lahaina Yacht Club Wahine Fishing Tournament: This annual event is for the ladies.

Oct22nd – Oct 24^th              Lahaina Jackpot Fishing Tournament: This locally famous annual jackpot-fishing tournament is held by the Lahaina Yacht Club. The tournament has posted several “granders” (1,000lb +) fish.

Oct 22 – Nov 4^th                   French Festival in Hawaii: French Festival celebrates the excellence of all things French against the lush backdrop of Maui. Cultural entertainment and culinary demonstrations and rare exhibits will be held in major shopping centers and at Whalers Village – Kaanapali.

Oct 31^st                                   Halloween – Front Street: This event gets bigger and bigger every year with a sense of “Mardi Gras”. Something you have to experience…at least ONCE!!
